Dear Parents/Guardians,

I would like to welcome you and your student to the Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) program at Pine Forest High School.  As a first year cadet, I recommend he/she get a head start by attending our Cadet Basic Course (CBC).  This course of instruction will start Monday August 3rd and end Friday August 7th. Course times are from 7:30am – 2:00pm.  We will also be doing a community service project at University of West Florida. This week long course will cover approximately 35 hours of instruction essentially giving them a seven week head start on their classmates.  Please drop off your cadet by 7:30 at the NJROTC building which is located left of the main school building and in front of the football stadium.  Please ensure your student is dressed in comfortable clothing preferably T-Shirt, shorts with tennis shoes.  Flip flops and sandals should not be worn.   Please ensure your student brings a lunch each day except Thursday and Friday of that week. We will provide lunch on Thursday, August 6th.  At 9:00 am, on Friday, August 7th cadets will graduate, receive their promotion, and certificate of completion.

Please return the enclosed postcard no later than July 6th to indicate your cadet’s intentions to attend/not attend Cadet Basic.

Our cadets will also be helping the teachers get started with our “Teacher Help Week” from August 10th to August 14th, 7:30am to 12:00pm.  This is a great opportunity for your cadet to earn community service hours towards his/her next rank and also for the Bright Futures Scholarship requirement.
